Barbara was born in Halifax County, July 14, 1944 to the late Ernest Worth and Eva Shaw Callahan. 

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by brothers, Jesse Wayne Callahan, Cleveland Callahan, and Swade Callahan.

Surviving are her husband Donald Manning of the home; sons, Michael Manning and wife Kelly and Kevin Manning and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Melissa Hale, Jeffrey Manning, Nathan Manning, Matt Manning, Jenni Manning, Heather Ridley, Chris Munn; sister, Brenda Kay Powers and husband Tot and their children Timmy, Jesse, Heather and Christi; great grandchildren, Matthew Manning, George Manning, K.V. Walker, Natalie Walker, and Jasiyah Brown; Also surviving is Eva Ree Callahan, Cindy Callahan, a special aunt Novella Deloatch, and her grand “Dog”ter Summer. 

Barbara is also survived by brother and sister-in laws, Dean Taylor, Dot Hux, Frank Manning, Henry Manning, Tiny Thompson, Louise Tilley, and their children and families.

Rev. Randy Martin will conduct a service to remember Barbara’s life Saturday, September 02, 2017 at 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1405 Bolling Rd. Roanoke Rapids.

Bobby was born in Halifax County, March 6, 1954, to the late Ralph and Evelyn Harris Martin. 

A retired navy veteran of more than 20 years, he loved playing guitar, spending time with his family and friends and coaching girls’ softball, where he coached for over 9 years. 

Bobby also was a member of Blue Steel Motorcycle Club of North Carolina. 

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his previous wife, Arlene Martin.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Fowler Martin of the home; sons, Bobby Lewis Martin, Jr. and wife, Leslie, Kendall Martin and wife, Christie; daughter, Missy Tolbert and husband, James, all of Roanoke Rapids; step-son, Marc Shaw and wife Brandy and step-daughter, Michelle Wells and husband, Eric, both of Roanoke Rapids; brothers, Pete Martin of Roanoke Rapids, and Wayne Martin of Hawaii; grandchildren, Jordan Martin, Hunter Martin, Kendallyn Martin, Skyler Martin, Nathan Rancourt, Mandi Tolbert, Aaron Shaw and Jaylan Wells; special friends, Mark and Laurie Kuchenbrod, Eddie Edquist and fellow brothers and wives of Blue Steel Motorcycle Club of North Carolina. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Closson was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on December 25, 1945 to the late Roscoe Eston Closson, his step-father, Vernon Stantliff and Lorraine Hodges Stantliff. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Closson.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Closson of the home; his son, Henry N. Billy was born November 17, 1934 in Halifax County to the late William Herbert O’Neal and Shirley Livingston Pittman O’Neal. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Melanie O’Neal and Dustin Cole O’Neal; his brother, Wiley Sidney O’Neal, Sr.

Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a dedicated truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Perlene O’Neal of the home; his sons, William Cole O’Neal, Jr. of Roxboro, Dennis Ray O’Neal and his wife Debra and Robert Earl O’Neal both of Roanoke Rapids; his special companion, Princess; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Billy’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 14, 2017 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. prior to the service.

Brad was born in Albany, NY, December 18, 1967, to the late Bradford Raymond, Sr. and Jeanne Stevens Dodway. 

He loved hanging out with his family and friends and riding his motorcycle. 

Brad had a big heart and was always helping others.

Eleanor was born November 19, 1936, in Tarboro, NC, to the late Jesse Lee and Bessie Cooper Price. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Allen Causey.

Georgia was born August 14, 1963 to George Warren ReVeal and Margaret Moseley ReVeal. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret ReVeal; her brother, Vernon ReVeal; her sisters, Brenda Colston and Sheila Hux.

Georgia loved her family and had many struggles along the way, but is at peace now.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Clay, of the home; her father, George ReVeal of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter, Felicia Clements; her grandchildren, Jacob Tyler Peterson and Haylee Michelle Peterson all of Roanoke Rapids; her sisters, Dale White and her husband Fred of Virginia Beach, VA, Frankie Wright of Roanoke Rapids and Marsha Tegl of Garysburg.

Joie was born in Punxsutawney, PA, June 6, 1975, to James Paropacic and Karen Agnello Tanner. In addition to her father, Joie was preceded in death by her brother, Joshua Green.

Mr. Lee was born July 16, 1945, in Halifax County to the late Henry Edward Lee and Jenny Wood Lee. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Emma Jean Lee; his grandson, T.J. Nelson.

He was a member of First Baptist Church. He loved fishing, NASCAR, music and helping with the Eagles Club. He retired from J. P. Stevens and Bibb Company with over thirty years of service.

Shorty is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lee and her fiancé Douglas Keeter, III and his children, Douglas Keeter, IV and Caimen Keeter; his sister, Carolyn Carter and her husband Roy all of Roanoke Rapids; his nephew, Kenny Ray and his wife Tammy; his great nieces, Ashley Casey and Tiffany Ray; his special friend Rosie.

Delores was born in Suffolk, VA, December 23, 1956, to the late Otto and Mary Carpenter Asbell. 

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family. In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Gene Peele and brother, Rusty Asbell. 

Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Mays and husband, Michael, Kitty Parker, Cynthia June Cook and husband, “Fred” Cook, all of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Timothy Asbell and wife, Virginia, of Faber, VA; sisters, Ann Thomas and husband, Phillip, of Chuckatuck, VA, and Sheila Smith of Elizabeth City, NC; grandchildren, Timothy Roger Shearin, Jr., Harley Renee Shearin, Dallas Wayne Walton, Emily Morgan Shearin, Austin Gene Walton, Briana Mays, Toma’s Mays, ones she loved like her grandchildren: Braxton Harrell, Tyler Garner and Morgan Walker; great grandchildren, Kolson Michael Shearin, Sophia Lula-Paige Epps, Braylin Scott Johnson, and “one on the way,” Baleigh Jane-Lynn Edwards. Norma was born in Halifax County, June 5, 1934, to the late Chester and Leacy Wall. 

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Marvin G. She was born October 28, 1927, in Halifax County to the late Olin Crawley and Jessica Dickens Crawley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sebastian Cabot Crawley, Jr.; her son Hugh Cabot Crawley; her grandson, John Sebastian Crawley.

Jo was a devoted wife who dearly loved her husband and her number 1 priority was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She made her home a place you could go to and feel welcome, safe and loved. Most times you would find her in the kitchen and the conversations held around the table make up some of our fondest memories. 

She was a homemaker in every sense of the word and she built her home with a gentle hand, a warm heart, a sweet smile and a whole lot of love.

She is survived by her children, Ron Crawley and his wife Jean of Mount Dora, FL, JoEllen Williams and her husband Kirk of Sanford, FL, Jeff “Bear” Crawley and his wife Bobbie of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren, Cabot “Pete” Crawley and his wife Crystal of Aurelian Springs, Chris Crawley and his wife Heidi,  Gabe Crawley, Lance Crawley, Brad Crawley, Steve Hall and his wife Sierra and Robin Hall; sixteen great-grandchildren; and special caregivers Ms. Mary, Jessica Crawley and Kali Shaw.

Louise was a member of Rosemary United Methodist Church for 46 years and a member of Battleboro Methodist Church for 40 years. 

She was employed with the City of Roanoke Rapids and with RBC Centura Bank in Rocky Mount. 

Louise was preceded in death by her mother Katie Mae Moss Cooke, her father Thomas Ballard Cook, her infant daughter, Katherine, her sister Julia Cooke Pullen, and her husbands William R. “Billy” Burton and Thomas Marshall Gorham. 

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Boseman (Wayne), her son William R. “Bill” Burton, her brother David Thomas Cooke (Julie).  Her grandchildren Aleisha Pearcey (Bubba), Allison Coleman, Ashley Boseman (Thomas), Andrea Padron (Jerry).  Great-grandchildren Jaime Pearcey (Zack), Alexis Pearcey, Jay Coleman, Jasmine Coleman, Leanna Carroll, Eldon Padron.  Great-great-grandchildren Aden and Noah. Her lifelong friends Mary Ann Jones and Louise “Twiddy” Woodroof. 

Louise had a special angel/caregiver Peggy Fajna.

Bill was born in Madison County, NC, January 15, 1927, to the late Henry and Dora Edmonds Shelton. 

He was a retired veteran having served with the United States Navy and had tours in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. 

After retiring from the Navy, he worked and retired with Civil Service. 

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, as well as, gardening and working in his yard. 

In addition to God and country, Bill loved his family, who was very important in his life.  In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mirian Shelton and brothers, Mack, Jimmy and Jack Shelton. 

Surviving are his daughter, Linda Shelton Joyner; brothers, Carl Shelton, Kyle Shelton, Douglas Shelton and Frank Shelton; sisters, Hazel Irby and Margaret Wallace; granddaughters, Sophia Gums and Nicole Elliott and husband, Larry. Also surviving is his great grandson, Robert Shelton Gums.

Marilyn was a loving wife and she loved her family. She loved music, working with kids and was a very giving person. Marilyn was also a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Hilda was born August 26, 1943 in Halifax County to the late Henry Carless DeBerry and Mary Magdalene Gerringer DeBerry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Jenkins.

She was a loving wife and mother and loved her family.

She is survived by her son, Shelton M. Jenkins; her brother-in-law, Wayne Jenkins and his wife Sylvia; her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Rodwell and her husband J.B. and Ann Allsbrook all of Roanoke Rapids; three very special cousins, Lee Barber, Ann Harris both of Elon, NC and Dawn Lambert of Locust, NC; a close friend, Verla Jenkins.

She was retired from J.A. Jones Group out of Charlotte, NC after many years. She loved spending time on the lake, working in her yard and riding her golf cart around the neighborhood socializing with her friends. She especially loved traveling on her girl trips to the mountains.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her father, John Carroll; her brother, Freddie Carroll.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill Pulley; her grandchildren, Justin and Lindsay Pulley all of Littleton; her mother, Ricksie Carroll of Faison’s Old Tavern; her brother, Clyde Carroll and his wife Terry of Wilmington; her sisters, Glenda Roberts of Lake Gaston and Robin McDonald of Greenville; her sister-in-law, Beverly Carroll of Goldsboro; one niece and three nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.
