Tracy Lynn Cook Pearson

Tracy Lynn Cook Pearson, 39, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Tracy was born May 15, 1974, in Halifax County to Don Cook and the late Paula Baker Cook.  She was a member at Smith United Methodist Church.  She loved having her children around and was known as “Mama” to all the kids who were always at her home.  Tracy was a person who put others before herself which was evident with her prayer line which she maintained on the internet, as well as, being a “spiritual first responder”; always being there for ones in need.  She would always light up a room as soon as she entered with her smile and she never met a stranger.

Surviving is her husband, David Pearson, of the home; son, Joshusa Pearson of the home; father, Don Cook of Roanoke Rapids; mother-in-law, Linda Pearson; father-in-law, Cliff Pearson; two sisters, Phyllis Roberts Hux and husband, Hugh Hux, of Roanoke Rapids and Stacie Cook Smith and husband, Roger Smith, of Jacksonville, FLA; brother, Bill Cook and wife, Kimberly Escabar, of Arlington, VA; four nieces, Erica Hux Myrick and husband, Will Myrick, Jaime Hux and Skyler Hux, all of Roanoke Rapids, Sloane Cook-Escabar of Arlington, VA, and nephew, Trey Smith of Jacksonville, FLA.  Also surviving are two grandmothers-in-law, Naomi Harrell and Lillian Pearson, both of Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 7-9 pm.  Rev. Tom Swartz will conduct funeral services at Smith United Methodist Church Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 2:00 pm.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
