Albert Armstrong Hux

Albert Armstrong Hux, 81, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Hux was born October 11, 1932 in Halifax County to the late Sterling and Bertha Warren Hux.  

As a young man Albert helped his family farm and had a love of cars.  Mr. Hux worked for a number of years as a security guard at J.P. Stevens and later the Bibb Company.  

He enjoyed Nascar racing and football, pulling for the Dallas Cowboys.  Mr. Hux was a true family man, who loved his entire family especially his grandchildren.  He never said a cross word about anyone.  

In addition to his parents Mr. Hux is preceded in death by his son Albert Hux; four brothers, Sterling, Jr., Cecil, J.B. and Herman Hux; three sisters Alice Roberta who died as an infant, Hazel Hux Dickens, and Betty Lou Hux Moseley.

Mr. Hux is survived by his wife Mary Hux of the home; his sons; Jeffrey Hux and wife Debbie of Salem, Virginia; and Joseph McKenzie of Rocky Mount. A daughter Gloria McKenzie; his sister, Nell Hux Baily both of Roanoke Rapids.  His grandchildren, Logan Hux, Jenna Hux, Derek McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, Marissa McKenzie, Christopher McKenzie, Brandon McKenzie, Magan Shepard, Morgan Shepard, and Jesse Weatherwax.  Mr. Hux is also survived by two great-grandchildren Macon McKenzie and Damien Field.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr., officiating.  Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the service at the funeral home and all other times at the home.
