Shirley Jean Martin Blanton, 71, of Macon Price Road, Garysburg passed away Sunday, February 14, 20-16 at her home.
Shirley was born July 26, 1944 in Halifax County to the late James Harvey Martin and Eula Blanche Little Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Robert Daniel Blanton, Jr.
Shirley Blanton was a caregiver, and spent her life taking care of her loved ones when they needed her. She loved cooking and gardening. Mrs. Blanton loved spending time with her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly the best mom, the best grandmother and definitely the best “Gi-Gi in the whole world. She will be truly missed by each heart she has ever touched.
Shirley is survived by her son: Richard Johnson of Clayton; her grandchildren: Richard Johnson, III, Christiana Johnson, Jacob Johnson and Hannah Faith Johnson; her great-grandchildren: Connor Dupuis and Bubba Johnson. In addition to her immediate family, she also leaves her sister-in-law, Betty Blanton (caregiver) and her family.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Roy Porter officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 prior to the service.
