Betty Jean Worrock Poindexter, 66 of Washington Street died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Poindexter was born March 9, 1947 in Halifax County to the Irvin Worrock, Sr. and Arlie Juanita Strickland Worrock. She was preceded in death by her father: Irvin Worrock, Sr.; her husband: George Poindexter.
She was survived by her mother: Juanita Worrock of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter: Carol Griffin of Gaston; her brother: Irvin Worrock, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Roanoke Rapids; two grandchildren: Jordan Smith and Lauren Hite and her husband Nick; two great grandchildren: Jordan McKenzie and Lily Hite; three special nieces: Tammy, Cindy and Missy and their families.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Wayne Marshall and Rev. Wesley Agee officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her mother Juanita Worrock, 635 Jefferson Street, Roanoke Rapids.
